This is by far one of the best changes in the expansion. This leads into the new Culture victory, with the goal of being culturally influential to a specific number of civilizations. All of which can create great works, which can bring in tourism from other civilizations. It’s very easy to obtain culture, with the addition of great writers/musicians/painters. It requires significantly more culture to get all the benefits from a ideology tree, but this isn’t a problem. In fact, each social policy gained from your specific ideology only grants one bonus, instead of several like in Gods and Kings.
Something also noticeable is no longer does each political ideology have 5 social policies to adopt, but a dozen or more. My first game in Brave New World resulted in a world war. There tends to be a lot of bickering between the AI as a result, which leads to very interesting gameplay. It’s entirely what the game was lacking, and this retooling of ideologies really adds depth to the late game. From diplomatic relationships being strained, to unhappiness in your civilization, to revolution. Ideologies now play a big part in civilization. Ideologies are now obtained by building three factories which signals the industrial era for your civilization, or reaching the Modern Era in the Technology tree.
Firaxis has completely retooled how Ideologies work, how the culture victory is obtained, and has reintroduced the World Congress (UN in Civ IV). Late game is also a lot more interesting. From loading times to turn times, there was clearly optimizations for multiplayer. With a recent patch, multiplayer actually runs much faster. One of my main complaints with Civilization V Gods and Kings was the amount of multiplayer bugs the game contained and how boring late game can get. For a hefty price of $30, Civilization V also gets a slight aesthetic refinement for the interface. With a Brave new world is the latest expansion for Civilization V, packed with new civilizations, wonders, units and a plethora features. EA's games that are sold only on Origin would be sold 20-30% higher price if they would be available on Steam.Brave new world is the latest expansion for Civilization V, packed with new civilizations, wonders, units and a plethora features. This allows publisher to dictate their prices on how they want, especially with their own stores (EA-Origin). Best selling games (largest publishers) get smaller cut, but others make better money outside Steam. It's much better option to discard Steam and sell it only on Epic store for lower price. Of course the game could be sold for 26 € more on Epic store to get better profit on a single copy, but higher price would then affect sales negatively. Steam rules don't allow difference prices, so the price must be the same. On the other hand I could sell the same game for 53.99 € on Epic store and get the same 29 € net income, because of Epic Store's smaller cut. On Steam the regular price for the game would be then 79.99 € and I would got roughly 29 € after VAT, Steam's cut and income tax. That would cover the development (salaries, tools, licences, etc.) and make profit. Let's say that I would need to make 29 € net income on copy to make profitable. That leads to problem as Steam has high 30% cut that take from sales. A game can't be sold elsewhere at a lower base price. Publisher sets prices, but Steam has restrictions on them (which leads them to jump of the boat and go to other places). Gamers around the world should rejoice and bless steam for their commitment to us. Publishers set the prices.I have almost every game downloader (epicgames, origin, steam, etc.) and I can tell you steam offers more discounts, freebies, better UI, ease of access and options than all others combined. Damn Bethesda, DOOM is still way too high than it should be. Originally posted by Lagrange:Not Steam's fault - its the publishers to blame.
